The CapTel 2400iBT Captioned Phone is a 40dB amplified phone that shows word-for-word captions of your conversation on a large touchscreen display. The CapTel 2400iBT has a large, colorful display, dial-by-picture capability and built-in answering machine to make it easy to enjoy talking on the phone again.
It connects to both your telephone and Internet service to give you the best of both worlds: voice and captions. The captions are provided by a free service that uses the Internet connection to automatically display captions for every call, quickly and accurately. Captions are available on calls within the United States only.

What you should expect. Within two business days after you have placed your order, a CapTel representative will contact you via email to verify your information and offer installation assistance. Simply confirm your information and let us know if you would like to take advantage of free installation help. Once you respond to the email, your order will ship. You will have 30 days after installation to try your new CapTel phone and the captioning service. You can return the phone at any time within the 30 days for a full refund. If you decide to keep the phone, there is nothing more you need to do—just enjoy phone calls again with confidence!

Great product for my mother...for her and for us!

She hears well on it and the transcribing of the conversation ensures she understands it well too! She loves it!

Pros:Easy set-up and assistance if help needed. Pretty straight forward and not too complicated for someone who has little technology smarts to operate.

Overall: Yes, I would recommend this product.

Never worked

I tried and tried to get this to work. It seems to be very picky. The captions rarely worked. I kept getting error messages. People could not hear me. Every other device works in this house with no problems but this didn't. It had to be physically plugged into the modem since evidently my wifi is too good for the phone to connect. Customer Service criticized me for shouting. I had to point out that since I am hearing impaired that that might be a possibility but it seemed that they should know and understand that. I was going to get one for my 96 year old mother but she would never have figured out the installation. Of course for me, there were no reps in the area (and this is a large city). She lives in a remote area so it would have been worse. Maybe I got a lemon but the company refused to consider that possibility. Yep. It got returned.


Cons:Too hard to connect (and I am tech savvy). No reps near me. Phone never worked.

Overall: No, I would not recommend this product.

Really happy!

This tele-captioning phone exceeded my expectations in every way. I had to manually go through the relay operator on my old phone. It was not fun having to say ok go ahead now. There was no way to get captions in real time. With CapTel I just call the number I want and the The relay operator automatically starts captioning the person I have dialed to. It's hard to find words to express how easy this phone is to use.

Pros:Touch screen icons Bright leds flash on an incoming call. Handset or speakerphone. Built in answering machine. Everything is captioned--answering machine, call history--Who called, what they said etc.. I've lost ALL my hearing. With this phone I don't have to hear. Big 7" x 12" screen. Volume control with green lights(normal) yellow (getting there) red (blast you out) I paid $79 for this phone. It's worth 10 times what I paid. Buy this phone. You won't be sorry. Last but not least it is super-easy to set up. If you have Wi-Fi you can go wireless. If you don't have Wi-Fi just 1 wire to hook up.

Cons:You must have a landline phone with high speed internet. What don't I like about it. There is nothing I don't like about it. There are no cons with this phone!
