Yesterday was my MIL's 92nd birthday. That is a milestone many people will never make (my own parents included). Thinking back when I met her 37 years ago, she was younger than I am now. I was only 21 at the time, so of course I thought she was old. Maybe it was her prematurely snow white hair. Perhaps it was the Revlon "Lilac Champagne" lipstick she wore and still wears to this day! (I think Revlon sells 3 tubes a year, all to her.) Fast forward to today, she now is old. We have both changed so much since we first met and became family. Back then I would never have imagined her living with me nearly half of my married life (so far). I would have called you crazy if you said I would become her caregiver. But I am and will be for as long as I'm needed to be. So I made her a pasta dinner (soft so she can chew it easily) and baked her a chocolate cake with chocolate icing (her favorite). Milestones should be celebrated, and so we did
